Why am I doing this?
This career may have been inevitable, though the path was still a surprise.
I have spent my whole life trying to understand human nature.
And to help and inspire people.
They seemed to me the only worthwhile things to do.
This website exists due to the consistently thrilling conversations
with those whose lives have changed as a result.
My deepest gratitude for the profound gift of their amazing encouragement.
My basic assumption is that what people really want is authentic acceptance:
the freedom to truly be themselves without fear of losing emotional connection.
I draw on 30+ years of studying psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, philosophy and biology
- and, more than anything else, by paying close attention to relationship dynamics -
in my discussions of personal growth and healthy relationships.
Healthy relationships are not a mystery.
The science of how they work can be understood by the details of
the empathy, trust, communication, forgiveness and reciprocity they contain.
And the prerequisite for that is a healthy psyche.
Let’s get started!
